Youth Sports
We believe in developing the fundamental skills for each sport including ball handling, understanding the rules, sportsmanship, fair play and love of sports. Every child will play in our leagues regardless of talent or ability. We believe there is value in the joy of victory and learning to be a gracious loser. A mainstay of YMCA offerings for young people, Y youth sports programs fill kids' discretionary hours with positive activities and caring adult attention. Coaches -- most often volunteers, including many parents -- emphasize teamwork and cooperation over winning at any cost, developing good values over developing the next superstar.
When kids play sports they get more than just exercise. The benefits of playing sports go far beyond the physical. Kids who play perform better in school, develop better interpersonal skills, and work better in groups. They are more resilient against life's challenges and less likely to ever abuse drugs and alcohol. Our character development emphasis helps kids learn, understand and apply our core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsability.
Clinics and leagues offer specific development of skills. We offer a variety of programs from one time programs to session long and multiple day per week programs. Each program is designed to help your child to grow and develop their skills.
