GROUP EXERCISE

Group exercise and aerobic classes are free to members at the YMCA of Indiana County. Group classes are a great way to mix up your workout routine, meet some friends or try something new. Guys, these classes are a great way to challenge yourself and break through a plateau.

Our classes include a wide variety of styles and purpose. Whether you're an active older adult looking to keep moving or you desire a class that offers strength and resistance, flexibility, some cross training for another activity or something that is so fun it won't feel like a workout, we have a group exercise class for you. Group Exercise Classes

LOW INTENSITY

FIT/MIX:  A low impact workout combining floor routines with the use of weights, stability ball and held ball.

*SENIOR GYM CLASS:  A low-impact cardio workout combined with strength training, stability ball exercises, X-biking and stretching.

*SUPER SENIORS:  Our Super Senior Class focuses on two important aspects of physical fitness:
*Strength Training - Constructing and keeping muscle will assist you to keep the functional abilities you appreciate, while decreasing aches and pains.
*Balance - Balance is vital as we age. By engaging and building your stabilizer muscles, your body will grow stronger and decrease the likelihood of injury.

*ZUMBA GOLD:  Zumba Gold is designed for the active older adult, the true beginner, people who are not used to exercising or people who may be limited physically. Zumba Gold is done at a much lower intensity than Zumba but with the same great Latin styles of music and dance. Zumba Gold classes strive to improve our balance, strength, flexibility and most importantly, the heart.

LOW/MEDIUM INTENSITY

ALL IN ONE:  A cardio workout that integrates the sculpting of major muscles all while allowing each individual to push to their own intensity.   All exercise levels in one class, all together as one group, encouraging and supporting as we are “one for all and all for one!”

BARRE INTENSITY ®(currently only for Saturday Surprise): will transform your body, developing into one with core strength, flexibility and overall balance. The technique infuses a warm-up, weight use and exercises at the ballet Barre that targets your seat, thighs and abdominals.

MEDIUM INTENSITY

PILATES:   Pilates provides improved posture, increased lung capacity, and strong, defined muscles. Its emphasis on all around, complete fitness supports a variety of goals, from building strength to increasing flexibility.

STEP MOTIVATION:  An intense fat-burning cardio workout using advanced step choreography. (Step experience is recommended.)

TRIM & TONE:  This class is a variety of cardio and toning in combination with cardio bounce, weighted aerobics, interval training and hi-lo.

YOGA:  This class combines strength building poses, flexibility and breathing to develop lean muscle and work on relaxation

ZUMBA:  A fusion of hypnotic Latin and international music – dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system.  Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.  It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. 

HIGH INTENSITY

ABS, BUNS & GUNS:  Get that tone you love with this high intensity, fun, muscle toning class. 

BOOT CAMP X: Come find out what it is like to be in the lineup at boot camp.  Classes may be held outdoors.

BOX & BURN: Get ready for a real kickboxing class taught by MMA fighter Donnie Fulmer.  Learn correct technique while improving flexibility, gaining lean muscle, increasing cardio respiratory endurance and having fun! 

BURN:   Burn is designed to give you great speed, endurance, and work on your agility! Utilizing plyometrics, coordination, motor skills, and cardio, Burn will get both fast and slow twitch muscle fibers firing away.  Class may occur outdoors. 

CHAOS:  This high intensity class integrates a mix of bodyweight, barbells and core exercises.

CYCLING ARMS & ABS: Using our indoor cycling bikes, we incorporate a cardio workout and upper body toning to give you a full body burn that is synced to music.

FITNESS RETRO:  Break out your leg warmers and headbands for a “blast from the past” workout! You will get a full body workout synced up to some of your favorite music of all time from the 80’s and 90’s. You will have so much fun you won’t realize how hard you are exercising until it is finished! Mesh tank tops and side ponytails are optional.

GET IT SPINNING:  Get a great workout with a certified spinning instructor. This is a pure cardio workout that may have you ready for the Tour de France.

TOTAL BODY SCULPTING:   The perfect complement to anyone’s workout.  TBS provides muscle tone and conditioning to virtually every muscle group. TBS utilizes a combination of body weight and free weights to sculpt your body with a variety of exercises week to week to jazz up the metabolism. 

TRANSFORMATION: This class is more intense than the ordinary fitness routine. Using functional training and principles of athletic conditioning, this workout will test your limits to achieve significant results. You will be physically transformed.
