Your YMCA, reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, is an association of volunteers, members and staff open to and serving all, providing programs and services which develop spirit, mind, and body. Financial Assistance is available based on need. The YMCA actively seeks to identify and involve those in need.

The YMCA is committed to providing financial assistance to those who cannot afford the full price of Y programs. That’s the purpose of our Strong Kids annual campaign. All annual campaign funds remain in our local community, giving children and families an opportunity to get involved in Y programs.

For many children, families and adults, the YMCA is the place they turn to for encouragement and support to accomplish their dreams.

Make a difference in someone's life and invest in the Strong Kids annual campaign. At the Y, Strong Kids is the umbrella for all fundraising activities. Pairing the YMCA's resources with community needs allows you to give to programs and services that matter most to you – causes that are close to your heart.

What makes the Y of Indiana County such an important resource to the entire Indiana County community? The answer is likely unique to every one of our supporters. We provide high quality, critically-needed Y experiences that touch the lives of thousands of people each year. Membership, aquatics and youth sports programs, youth mentoring, summer camp and family-oriented health and wellness programs have a profound effect on the quality of life of people in ways that have lasting impact. The Y connects people of all ages and abilities to a healthier and more active lifestyle through a variety of programs and services.

We nurture young minds in our youth, summer camp and teen programs. Seniors are provided with many programs to maintain active, healthy lifestyles and the opportunity to engage and mentor our younger members. Critically needed Y experiences are possible only through the generosity of individuals, like you, who say “YES” to an investment in their community.

Every dollar donated to the Y allows us to carry out our mission and better serve the children, families and communities of Indiana County. Your contributions help us develop innovative community outreach programs and provide financial assistance to those who cannot otherwise afford a Y experience and more. Here are a few commonly asked questions many donors may have when considering making a gift to the Y:

Q: Why should I contribute to the Y?
A: The Y of Indiana County is a volunteer-led, charitable organization that works collaboratively with community partners to improve the lives of children, adults, families, and the entire community. Our purpose is to strengthen and enrich the development of individuals and families through quality programs and services that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The Y serves people of all backgrounds, ages, capabilities, and income levels, providing financial assistance to those in need.

Q: Doesn't my membership support the Y’s philanthropic efforts?
A: No. Membership fees paid to the Y allow us to operate and maintain our center, pay our staff, etc. These fees do not aid us in our efforts to provide Y experiences to those who otherwise cannot afford them.

Q: Can I direct my gift to a specific program or area?
A: Yes! Donors wishing to do so may donor designate their gift or they can chose to “donate wherever the need is greatest.” Donors may also specify a particular program if they wish.

Q: How will my contribution be used?
A: One hundred percent of donor contributions go to providing financial assistance for children, individuals and families in need who otherwise couldn't afford our programs and services. Our goal is to provide Y experiences to all those seeking one, regardless of their ability to pay. We subsidize a wide range of programs and services that impact communities and community members throughout Indiana County. The majority of the contributions we receive are used to provide scholarships for young people to participate in our summer camp and mentoring programs.

Q: Who provides funding to the Y?
A: Our funding is generated from individual and corporate donors, foundations and grants, and the United Way of Indiana County.

Q: What other fundraising does the Y do?
A: The expansion and/or improvement of your Y is accomplished through various Y capital development campaigns. These campaigns typically involve naming opportunities for various areas in our Y center. These types of campaigns are separate and independent of our Annual Support Campaign.
