Youth Programs
Pre-School - School Age - Teens

Our youth programs offer the chance to try something new, meet new friends and improve on what you already know. Pre-school classes include parent/child and child classes while school age and teen programs provide the chance for individuals to grow.

Pre-School Programs such as Toddler Time, Music for Me and Little Chefs provide your child with social interaction and a chance to try something new or simply be active.

School Age Programs include sports development, leagues and fitness classes. Teen 'n Tween Strength Training can teach your child to use our exercise equipment safely and set them on their way towards lifelong health. KidShape is a great family program that teaches health, nutrition and exercise in a fun way. Don't forget about our camps - from sports to day cam to Fun Days, our new school day off program, your kids are sure to have a blast with our fantastic staff and well planned programs.

Teen Programs include fitness such as Teen 'n Tween or social events such as Teen Nights and the new Teen Center. Looking for something more? Ask about our Teen Leaders Program starting Fall 2011. Beginning October 15th 2011, The Y will also begin the 7th Grade Initiative by offering a free youth membership to each 7th grader in Indiana County.

Tiny Tumble Bees
Treat your little one to our fun filled pre-school movement program. Our child sized equipment allows children to discover color, shape and movement while developing imagination, coordination, balance, strength, flexibility and motor skills. Parent must participate in class with child.

Tiny Tumblers
This class features tumbling, climbing, jumping and so much more. This is a great class to start or even continue building Healthy Lifestyles at a young age and will be a FUN experience for everyone. Parents are encouraged to participate.

Little Chefs
Kids will enjoy making and eating their own creations in the Y's kitchen. Serving and place setting will be emphasized during our delicious and simple projects each week. Your child will love sharing with Mom or Dad what they have made "all by themselves."

Mommy & Me
This is your chance to spend time with your little one in a gym program where the focus is on FUN! Games turn your child into a giggle monster as you play the day away. Children will benefit from the exercise of play including rolling, somersaults, hopping, skipping and ball skills. Children and adults should wear sneakers to class.

Just For Me
A special time for your child to begin socializing with other children and an introduction to crafts and games. Parents are encouraged to sit back and observe

Sports Mix
This program will focus on basic skill development in a variety of sports. Children will love the games and stay focused on the task at hand while working to develop and improve the fundamental skills, teamwork and leadership. Sample sports skills include throwing, hitting, catching, kicking and striking a ball with an object.

Soccer Fundamentals
A games based approach for continued skill development, leading into our spring soccer season. Coaches will continue to teach your child the YMCA core values while developing their skills in the game of soccer. Your child will receive detailed attention by our coaches to ensure success is translated onto the field during the spring. Limited to the first 20 who sign up.

Cheernastics
Come show your spirit! This program is designed to help your child with coordination and teach them cheerleading and dance skills. During this program the participants will learn cheers, tumbling, stunting, dance and more!

Arts at the Y
Does your child love to create things with glue, stickers and paper, while you are stuck with the mess? Let our staff lead him/her in an age appropriate craft and clean up the mess! Different themes every time.

Music For Me
Sing, dance and get your first taste of the wonderful world of music. We will make musical instruments to take home every week. Parents are encouraged to sit back and watch.

KidShape
The Y is fortunate to collaborate with Highmark Healthy High 5 to offer KidShape, a family-based pediatric weight management program for families with overweight children. KidShape is a nine-week fun filled program that will start you and your whole family on a lifetime of health and improved self-image. KidShape teaches and motivates the entire family to eat healthy and improve physical activity. This is a nine-week program that meets once a week for 2 hours. Be a part of the KidShape team! Home School Gym and Swim
A program to provide structured physical activity to children not enrolled in traditional schools. Structured gym program will use a variety of activities to develop coordination, balance and footwork in a fun and caring environment. Swim time is unstructured rec swim time. All swimmers unable to pass the deep water test need to have an adult in the water with them.

Teen 'n Tween Fitness
Our updated program is more comprehensive to provide students ages 11 - 15 the resources necessary to understand how to use the fitness facilities as well as how to perform various exercises. This class is required for anyone under 16 who wishes to use the Fitness Center and Functional Fitness Room without a parent present.

Intro to Drawing & Composition
Express yourself through art with your peers. Teen in grades 6-12 will investigate pencil drawings, composition and be introduced to photography compositions using their cell phones. Classes are designed for all levels. Volunteers from the Indiana Arts Council will facilitate the class. Materials needed include a composition book, pens or pencils and a desire to participate.

Teen Nights
Students in grades 6-8 are invited to the Y Teen Nights! Come enjoy a fun filled time with friends participating in activities such as swimming, sports, board games and Wii. Check out our Teen Page for more information.

Teen Open Gym
Teens between the ages of 12-17 are invited to come to teen open gym. This program will be held on half of the gym for two hours. Two different sports or activities will be held each session.

Leader's Club
The Leader's Club is a service organization that meets weekly and its purpose is to develop leadership skills and a volunteer/service mind set in teens. Individuals learn to be a part of a team and work with adult leaders to plan events, fundraisers and meet with other clubs for learning, socializing and fun. Please contact the Y for participation requirements.

Teen & Tween Strength Training
Our updated program is more comprehensive to provide students ages 11-15 training on how to use the fitness facilities, as well as how to perform various activities. Consult with our Director of Health and Wellness, Jason Miller, for more information.

7th Grade Membership Initiative
We are proud to launch the 7th Grade Membership Initiative as a way to better engage, educate and connect to our youth right when they need it most. Not only will this provide 7th grade students with a safe environment, but it will enable students to grow in spirit, mind and body. For more information visit our Membership Initiative page.
